Uplifting… Part II

I mentioned in a recent post that my stride felt "springier" when I didn't deliberately lift my feet as per this even earlier post. Jason Robillard's blog has touched on this topic a couple of times lately, (here and here) and because of this, I've dropped the foot-lifting and let the reflexes of my lower body do their thing. I haven't been seriously measuring my performance. All I know is that running now feels springier and less of an effort. Jason links to a fascinating post by Steve Magness which leads me to suspect that any "need" to concentrate on "lifting the feet" is actually a compensation for deficiencies in form elsewhere in the body. Whatever the truth of the matter may be, I suspect that my foot-lifting days are at an end and I'm breaking into a new era of even better form.
