Running with Coughs, Colds and 'Flu

I awoke on Saturday with a puzzling lightness in my head and a droning headache. Then I remembered that I'd felt rather cold at night in spite of the mild weather - feverishly cold, in fact. It was when I noticed a new tickling in the back of my throat that the penny dropped: I had a cold or 'flu. How inconvenient; I was less than a month from the snowboarding holiday and on a training rĂ©gime. So, should I run? A quick google suggested that a leisurely run would be fine, as long as it wasn't 'flu. Apparently, in spite of the fever and headache, it wasn't 'flu, as patients with 'flu don't contemplate runs. Anyway, a very pleasant 3-miler, mostly barefoot, ensued. Then, the cold got worse and I spent the weekend feeling ill. (Why does it always seem to be on holidays and weekends?) Anyway, today is the first day I've felt up to running again, so I gave it a go (in VFFs) this evening. But how was that evil cough to be affected by the night air? Turns out, it's the least I've coughed all day. In fact, I only coughed when I stopped to cross a road, and at the warm-down, where I walked the last 50 yards. In case you're curious (in either sense), the temperature was about 10°C, humidity about 80%. So there you go: I got away with it, and it seems to have done no harm, but I'm not advising any readers to do the same as me. Ask a genuine doctor for that, OK? Oh, let's be honest here. I have a tiny readership at the time of writing, so I'm not really afraid of law suits at this stage. Of course, I know you wouldn't, but I just want to be sure that no-one holds me responsible for their error and tries to get me to cough up.
